‘iPhone 19 Air’ to feature larger display, may launch as ‘iPhone 19 Slim’

Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that Apple’s second-generation “iPhone Air” — expected to debut in 2027 — may launch under a new name: “iPhone Slim.” The device is said to feature a larger display than the inaugural model, which is set to arrive later this year as part of the iPhone 17 lineup.
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.5mm thick and constructed with a titanium-aluminum alloy frame. It’s expected to feature a 6.6-inch OLED ProMotion display and camera hardware similar to the base iPhone 17. For comparison, the iPhone 17 is said to include a 6.1-inch OLED ProMotion display, Apple’s new A19 chip, 12GB of RAM, and upgraded cameras — including a 48MP rear sensor and a 24MP front-facing lens.
At the high end, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature 6.6-inch and 6.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR displays, powered by the A19 Pro chip built on TSMC’s 3nm process. These models will reportedly include 12GB of RAM and a triple-lens 48MP system, including ultra-wide and periscope telephoto lenses, with support for 8K video recording, improved thermal management, and a new “Sky Blue” color option.
Kuo has also claimed that Apple plans to shake up its iPhone release strategy by staggering the launch of the iPhone 18 lineup—marking a significant departure from the company’s traditional fall schedule. According to Kuo, Apple will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models in fall 2026, while the base iPhone 18 won’t arrive until spring 2027, roughly six months later.
