Apple provides important update on existing Apple Watch band and strap compatibility with new models

Apple has provided Apple Watch users with an update on the compatibility of existing bands and straps on the new Apple Watch Series 10, which features an updated design with a near 10 percent thinner case than Apple Watch Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9, and 30 percent more active screen area than Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and Series 6, and up to 9 percent more than Apple Watch Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9.
Each year, reports cast doubt over the compatibility of Apple’s existing range of Apple Watch bands and straps with the forthcoming new models, with rumors suggesting that with design updates, Apple will drop support for its range of Apple Watch accessories, meaning that users will not be able to use their existing bands with the new models.
Following the launch of the Apple Watch Series 10 today, Apple has provided users with an update on the compatibility of existing bands and straps, and whether they will be able to be used on the new models, which release on Friday, September 20.
Online, Apple says older Apple Watch bands, including 41mm and 45mm sizes, will be compatible with the new 42mm and 46mm cases, and all new 42mm and 46mm bands will be compatible with older Apple Watch models.
This means that Apple Watch users who own older bands, including those sized 41mm and 45mm, can use them with the new Apple Watch models featuring 42mm and 46mm cases. Additionally, any new bands designed for the 42mm and 46mm models will also be compatible with older Apple Watch models. This cross-compatibility ensures that users can continue using their existing bands with new Apple Watch models, without needing to purchase new ones specifically for the updated case sizes.
