macOS Sequoia releasing earlier than usual, available next week

Apple has announced that macOS Sequoia, this year’s flagship macOS update, will be releasing earlier than usual, with the update being rolled out on Monday, September 16, a month earlier than Apple typically releases its major macOS updates.
One of the standout features in macOS Sequoia is iPhone Mirroring, which expands Continuity by allowing users to access and control their iPhones directly from their Macs. This enables users to navigate their iPhone’s interface, launch apps, and even respond to notifications without having to pick up their iPhone.
To run macOS Sequoia, users will need either an iMac 2019 or later, iMac Pro 2017 or later, Mac Studio 2022 or later, MacBook Air 2020 or later, Mac mini 2018 or later, MacBook Pro 2018 or later, or a Mac Pro 2019 or later.
With the update, Safari adds Highlights, making it easier for users to find relevant information while browsing the web. The redesigned Reader feature provides a distraction-free reading experience, while the Viewer feature prioritizes video content.
Gaming on Mac gets a boost with macOS Sequoia with the introduction of titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Frostpunk 2, while the Game Porting Toolkit 2 simplifies the process of bringing advanced Windows PC games to the Mac.
Additional features include updates to Messages, Apple Maps, Photos, and Notes.
Later in the year, Apple will bring Apple Intelligence, the iPhone maker’s powerful new personal intelligence system, to the Mac. This system combines generative models with personal context to streamline everyday tasks with features like systemwide Writing Tools and enhanced image capabilities.
