Apple wraps up filming for upcoming iPhone 16 event, Gurman reports

Apple has wrapped up filming for its highly anticipated September special event, where the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 lineup, the next-generation Apple Watch, and new AirPods, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The event, which will maintain the familiar format of recent years, will feature a pre-recorded presentation that will be streamed to a live audience at the Steve Jobs Theater and to viewers worldwide.
In his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman noted, “Apple’s September product launches are typically the first Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day, and it looks like this year will follow that same pattern. The company has wrapped up filming of its iPhone 16 launch video and is planning to host an event at its campus on Tuesday, Sept. 10.”
He added, “Sticking to the script of the past few years, Apple will air the keynote video in the Steve Jobs Theater and allow attendees to check out the new iPhones and other hardware afterward. Of course, the presentation will also be streamed online. The new iPhones will hit stores 10 days later, beginning on Friday, Sept. 20.”
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 lineup is expected to retain a design similar to the iPhone 15 series, but with notable updates, such as a new capacitive button on the side for capturing photos and videos. The Pro models are rumored to feature slightly larger displays, with the iPhone 16 Pro boasting a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max a 6.9-inch screen.
Beyond the iPhones, Apple is also anticipated to introduce the Apple Watch Series 10 at the event. The Series 10 is rumored to feature larger displays—potentially rivaling the size of the Apple Watch Ultra—along with a thinner case design, marking one of the most significant updates to the Apple Watch in recent years.
The event may also include the debut of new AirPods, with Apple expected to launch two new models of its entry-level AirPods, both for the first time featuring noise cancellation.
