Surprise, surprise: Tap to Cash with Apple Cash will be available only in the U.S.

On Monday, Apple unveiled Tap to Cash with Apple Cash, a new service that allows users to send and receive Apple Cash by holding two iPhones together without sharing phone numbers.
As with many of Apple’s other Apple Pay-related features, such as Apple Cash, Apple Card, and Apple Pay Later, Tap to Cash with Apple Cash will be available only to users in the U.S. Apple confirmed to The Apple Post on Tuesday that to send and receive money with Tap to Cash, users must be U.S. residents, with no word on when the feature might expand internationally.
The news that Tap to Cash with Apple Cash will be a U.S.-only feature should come as no surprise. Since its launch in 2019, Apple Card, Apple’s digital credit card, has only been available in the U.S., and so has Apple Cash.
Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed interest in expanding Apple’s payment services beyond the U.S. in 2019, but since then, nothing has materialized. Instead, Apple’s list of U.S.-only features continues to grow.
