New iPad Pro and iPad Air no longer come with a charger in the box in some countries

Apple revealed on Tuesday a newly redesigned 11-inch iPad Air alongside a new 13-inch model, both powered by the M2 chip. Additionally, Apple introduced all-new OLED iPad Pro models featuring the M4 processor, debuting exclusively on the iPad Pro.

With the new models now available to order ahead of their release later this month, the online Apple Store has revealed that the new models no longer include a charger in the box in some countries, similar to the latest iPhone lineup, which too does not come with a USB-C wall plug included as standard.

As reported by 9to5Mac, customers in the UK and other countries across Europe will notice that the new iPad Pro and iPad Air will lack a charging brick in the box, with the devices shipping only with a USB-C charging cable as standard.

This appears to be due to the “Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment” regulations in the EU and UK, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) when it reaches the end of its life.
