AirPods not working with Microsoft Teams? Here’s why

The Microsoft support forums are filled with complaints from Teams users, Microsoft’s equivalent to Slack for workplace communication and video conferencing. These users are encountering issues with their AirPods—specifically, the second generation AirPods Pro—while using the Teams app. Surprisingly, the root cause seems to be the lack of official compatibility between AirPods and the Teams service.

Despite being the best-selling wireless headphones on the market, according to Bloomberg, making up a whopping 31.8% share of the headphone market in 2022, Microsoft does not officially support using AirPods with Teams. Users who use their AirPods with the service frequently report disconnection, a lack of sound, and poor microphone quality.

The ongoing issues with AirPods Pro and Microsoft Teams have persisted since the launch of the second generation AirPods Pro in September 2022. Despite consistent user complaints regarding connectivity problems and audio issues while using Teams with AirPods Pro, Microsoft has not yet taken definitive steps to address this compatibility gap.

While not all users are experiencing issues, those who are being instructed by members of the Microsoft support forums to try turning off voice isolation or related settings.
