Apple unveils new OLED iPad Pro with M4 processor, landscape camera, thinnest-ever design, more

Apple has introduced the highly anticipated next-generation iPad Pro, marking a significant leap forward in both design and performance. Available in both silver and space black finishes, the latest iPad Pro lineup comprises two sizes: a 13-inch model and a 11-inch variant. Both sizes feature an all-new Ultra Retina XDR display, powered by new tandem OLED technology, delivering an unparalleled visual experience. This display innovation is made possible by the all-new M4 chip, the next evolution of Apple silicon, which launches first on the iPad Pro.

Announced at the iPhone maker’s “Let Loose” special event, John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, described the new iPad Pro as an embodiment of the ultimate iPad experience, blending top-tier displays, groundbreaking performance powered by the latest M-series chips, and a suite of advanced accessories, all packaged within an exceptionally portable design.

One of the standout features of the new iPad Pro is its thinness and lightness. The 11-inch model measures just 5.3 mm thin, while the 13-inch model is even thinner at 5.1 mm, without compromising on durability or strength. Both models are lighter than their predecessors.

At the heart of the new iPad Pro is the groundbreaking Ultra Retina XDR display, leveraging tandem OLED technology to deliver exceptional brightness, contrast, and color accuracy. With support for up to 1000 nits of full-screen brightness for both SDR and HDR content, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits for HDR, the Ultra Retina XDR display sets a new standard for visual fidelity. The addition of nano-texture glass further enhances the viewing experience by reducing glare without compromising image quality.

The performance capabilities of the new iPad Pro are driven by the M4 chip, featuring a new CPU, a next-generation GPU, and the most powerful Neural Engine ever seen in an iPad. This all-new chip enables up to 1.5x faster CPU performance compared to the previous generation, along with advancements in GPU rendering and AI processing.

The advanced camera system on the new iPad Pro offers enhanced versatility, while the TrueDepth camera system’s landscape orientation improves the video conferencing experience. The device features pro connectivity options such as Thunderbolt 3 and USB 4 support, Wi-Fi 6E, and 5G capabilities.

Apple has also unveiled new accessories, including the Apple Pencil Pro with features like squeeze controls and haptic feedback, along with updates to the Magic Keyboard.

Customers can order the new iPad Pro with M4 starting today online and in the Apple Store app in 29 countries and regions, with availability in stores beginning Wednesday, May 15. The new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro is available in silver and space black finishes in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations.
