iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus to feature 48-megapixel camera, reports Kuo

Apple is rumored to be bringing its 48-megapixel camera to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, according to reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says the devices will feature a new rear camera lens with a new stacked sensor design that can capture more light.

Writing on Medium, Kuo says Apple will upgrade the rear camera on the non-Pro models, upping the megapixels from 12-megapixels on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus to 48-megapixels on the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Currently, only the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have the 48-megapixels camera setup, which enables users to shoot ProRAW photos, which retain more detail in the image file for more editing flexibility.

In addition to the new camera system, Apple is expected to bring the Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro to all four iPhone 15 models this year, making the feature available for the first time not just on the ‘Pro’ series models. Previous reports have claimed that Apple won’t bring ProMotion or its Always-On Display feature to the regular iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus.

It has been rumored that the new devices will be available in a new color — cyan-green, and that the new models will have a “frosted glass” back design, matching the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
