M3 MacBook Pro and Mac mini launching in 2024, says Gurman

Apple’s next upgraded Mac mini and new MacBook Pro lineup will come next year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who says the refresh will introduce Apple’s next-generation M3 processor, which is slated to make a debut with a new 24-inch iMac later this year.

In his weekly “Power On” newsletter, Gurman says Apple’s 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros won’t be the first machines to feature the new Apple Silicon M3 chip, saying it’s “a sure thing that an M3 version of the Mac mini is eventually coming,” however it is unlikely either an M3 Mac mini or M3-powered MacBook Pro will be available before the middle of 2024.

Last week, Gurman said Apple is reportedly readying three new Mac models, including an updated 24-inch iMac, for launch in October.

The insight said tnow that Apple has gotten its long-rumored 15-inch MacBook Air and new M2 Ultra-based Macs out the door, Apple could unveil its next 24-inch iMac, 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro this fall, all of which would feature M3 Apple Silicon chips.

It isn’t clear whether Apple will host a dedicated special event for the launch of its M3 Mac lineup, or if the machines will be announced softly through a press release.

Gurman says for those wondering about the iPad — another product that typically gets updated in October — he doesn’t expect any major upgrades until the release of a new M3 iPad Pro with OLED next year. But an iPad Air model that boosts its specifications is “in development.”
