A Lime, a Head Shaking Vertically, and a Phoenix Bird emoji are amongst the draft emoji candidates up for approval by Unicode this September, which could eventually make their way to Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, next year.
The Unicode Consortium, which decides on new emojis, will consider the new characters later this year, with sample illustrations by Emojipedia showing what the new emoji could look like, although it will be up to Apple and other smartphone makers to create their own characters, which could look different than the examples shown.
In addition to the new Lime, Head Shaking Vertically, and Phoenix Bird emoji, the proposal includes four new gender-neutral family emojis intended to be represented via silhouettes like the current Bust in Silhouette and Busts in Silhouette emojis.
