Facebook and Instagram expand ‘Meta Verified’ paid verification subscription to users in Ireland

Meta is today expanding its its paid verification subscription ‘Meta Verified’ to users in Ireland, allowing subscribers to show the platform’s blue verification checkmark on their profile for a monthly fee.

The service, which is already available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, will offer subscribers priority customer support, prioritization in comments, exclusive stickers to be used in Stories, and more.

Meta’s paid verification subscription follows in the footsteps of rival Twitter’s ‘Blue’ subscription, which also allows users to pay to show a blue verification checkmark on their profile.

Unlike Twitter’s paid-for verification badge, Meta Verified is only available to accounts representing people and not businesses.

Subscribers to Meta Verified must be at least 18 years old and submit a government ID to qualify, available from between €14 and €17 per month.
