Apple to show ads on App Store homepage in new, more prominent format

Apple has announced today that it will be introducing a new, more prominent format for ads on the Today tab of the App Store, which will no longer require users to scroll to see paid ads promoting apps on the platform.

The new format Today tab App Store ads will be simplified to feature the promoted app’s icon, name, and subtitle, showing in all countries and regions where the Today tab ads will run, with ads fully visible on the Today tab on iPhone on devices using iOS 16.4 and later beginning in July.

Because of the new simplified format which no longer requires custom product pages, paid ads on the App Store homepage won’t require review prior to ads running. Instead, Apple will review the app’s icon, name, and subtitle to ensure they adhere to Today tab ad content guidelines and comply with Apple Advertising Policies.

Today tab ads won’t be available on iOS 16.3 or earlier, or on iPad.
