An updated 24-inch iMac is rumored to be one of the first new M3-equipped Macs to launch later this year, with the machine expected to mark the first update to the iMac lineup since the introduction of the fully redesigned M1 model in 2021.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed last month that a new 24-inch iMac is at an advanced stage of development called engineering validation testing, or EVT, and the company is conducting production tests of the machine before mass production begins this summer.
Apple’s new M3 iMac is expected to be one of the first Macs to begin the M3 transition, with the update expected to see the 24-inch iMac move to a new 3nm process, offering performance and power efficiency improvements over the current M1 chip in the 2021 iMac, which is manufactured with a 5nm process.

At the time of his report, Gurman said the next iMac will continue to come in the same 24-inch screen size as the current model, also coming in the same colors as the current iMac, a palette that includes blue, silver, pink and orange.
With the machine yet to enter mass production, it seems likely that Apple’s new M3 iMac will likely be announced before the end of the year, most likely in October when the company typically announces major updates to its Mac lineup.
