Apple is rumored to be removing the SIM card tray from iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro in France, switching to eSIM-only as it did in the US with the launch of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, according to a new report from French website MacGeneration.
According to the report, the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models sold in France will rely on eSIM technology, which replaces the traditional SIM card to allow users to activate a mobile data plan from their network provider without having to use a physical SIM.
Apple typically sells the same model iPhone in France as it does across the rest of Europe, suggesting that Apple could expand eSIM-only devices to more countries other than France, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and more.
