Apple to release first foldable iPad in 2024, suggests analyst

Respected TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple could release its first foldable iPad in 2024, claiming that the new device will feature a carbon fiber kickstand with an “all-new design.”

In a series of posts to Twitter on Monday, Kuo says he is “taking a cautious approach to iPad shipments for 2023,” predicting a year-over-year decline of 10-15%, reporting that iPad shipments are likely to increase in 2024 when the new foldable model launches, although no further details were shared about the device.

According to Kuo, Apple’s next iPad will be an upgraded iPad mini which will likely be announced towards the end of the year or early next year, saying that he is “positive” a folding iPad is launching in the near future.

“I’m taking a cautious approach to iPad shipments for 2023, predicting a YoY decline of 10-15%. Nevertheless, I’m positive about the foldable iPad in 2024 and expect this new model will boost shipments and improve the product mix,” said Kuo. “My latest survey indicates that the foldable iPad will feature a carbon fiber kickstand. Carbon fiber material will make the kickstand lighter and more durable.”
