Apple spent over $750k on private jets for Tim Cook in 2022 and almost $600k on private security

Apple’s annual Proxy Statement has been published today, containing information required by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that discloses information including information on directors’ salaries, bonuses, expenses, and more, revealing that the iPhone maker spent $767,319 on air travel expenses for Tim Cook in 2022, and almost $600k on private security.

Cook’s security expenses represent the “incremental cost to Apple for personal security services provided to Mr. Cook” after the iPhone maker was granted a restraining order against a woman who allegedly sent Apple CEO Tim Cook photos of a loaded pistol, trespassed at his home in Palo Alto and sent a barrage of disturbing emails in early 2022.

As of 2017, Apple’s board has stated that for security reasons, all business and personal air-travel Tim Cook must fly on his own private jet, something Apple has said is “in the interests of security and efficiency”.

In 2022, Apple spent $767,319 on Cook’s air travel, a price that includes fuel, airport charges and undoubtedly private lounge access.
