Gurman says ‘there are no plans for a new Apple TV to launch in 2023’

Apple is unlikely to release an updated Apple TV 4K anytime this year, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman saying “there are no plans” for an updated set-top-box to debut before 2024 following the launch of a substantially upgraded model late last year.

Apple gave the Apple TV 4K a performance boost with the A15 Bionic chip, HDR10+ support, and more for a new, more affordable starting price in October 2020. The update seemingly brought enough to keep the Apple TV going for the foreseeable future, with neither Gurman nor any reputable supply chain sources forecasting the launch of a new iteration of the set-top-box anytime soon.

Apple’s latest Apple TV 4K offers “impressive cinematic quality driven by the A15 Bionic chip,” says Apple, delivering faster performance and more fluid gameplay. HDR10+ support joins Dolby Vision on Apple TV 4K, offering movies and TV shows in the best quality possible across more supported HDR10+ TVs, and up to 50 percent faster performance over the previous model.

Apple TV 4K supports HDR10+, in addition to Dolby Vision, expanding visual quality across more TVs.

As a home hub, Apple TV 4K securely connects to compatible smart home accessories, including HomeKit cameras, lights, shades, and more; allowing the user to set scenes and control their smart home while away; and ensures that accessories can run automatically.
