Apple giving away free limited-edition AirTags with iPhone purchases in Japan next week

Apple has announced that it will be hosting a two-day promotion to celebrate Japanese New Year next week, offering shoppers free Apple Store Gift Cards with select product purchases and special limited-edition AirTags featuring an engraving to honour the Year of the Rabbit.

The promotion will see Apple giveaway free AirTags with a rabid emoji to celebrate the New Year to the first 30,000 customers who purchase a new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, or iPhone SE between January 2 and January 3 similar to what it did last year, where 20,000 of Apple’s first customers over the Japanese New Year period received a custom-engraved AirTag with an engraving of a tiger.

The limited-edition AirTags work exactly the same as the regular models, although the custom engraving is unique and completely exclusive to the Japanese New Year promo, only available to customers in the country who purchase an iPhone during the New Year period.

Apple announced AirTag last year — the iPhone maker’s long-rumored tracking accessory that integrates with the Find My app to allow users to track items such as handbags, keys, backpacks, or other items from their iPhone.
