Apple’s previously rumored new, larger 15.5-inch MacBook Air could launch in the spring of 2023, according to reliable analyst Ross Young, who suggests that Apple suppliers will begin panel production for the new machine in the first quarter of 2023, which would align with a launch in spring.
In a post shared with Super Followers on Twitter earlier this month, Young suggests the new MacBook Air, size-wise, would sit between the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro at 15.5-inches, becoming the larger MacBook Air ever to be released, although no details on the specs for the upcoming machine were shared.
This isn’t the first time that a larger 15.5-inch MacBook Air has been rumored. Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted that he expects Apple to unveil a larger MacBook Air in early 2023, noting how the machine will be based off the current 13.6-inch MacBook Air, which features a Liquid Retina display, 1080p HD camera, MagSafe charging, and more in four finishes — midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray.

Measuring just 11.3 millimetres thin and 2.7 pounds in weight, the current-generation 13.6-inch M2 MacBook Air is thinner than Apple’s original iPhone, featuring two Thunderbolt ports for connecting accessories, a 3.5 mm audio jack with support for high-impedance headphones, a full-height function row with Touch ID, and Apple’s Force Touch trackpad.
Despite no details being shared on what chip the new, larger 15.5-inch MacBook Air could use, the machine would likely feature the same M2 chip found in the 13.6-inch model, or an upgraded M2 Pro version with enhanced performance and capabilities.
