Apple brings 5G support to iPhone users in India with iOS 16.2

Apple has brought 5G support to iPhone users in India with the release of iOS 16.2 today, enabling 5G connectivity for select carriers including Airtel and Jio.

5G support is now available for users with any device from the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 or 14-series, as well as the iPhone SE 3, with a new option available in the Settings app to enable 5G support.

5G is expected to be available to 75 percent of the population of India by the end of the year, with cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhi Nagar all receiving support for the service before the end of the year, as reported by 91Mobiles.

Apple confirmed in October that it was testing 5G support in the country before a roll out before the end of the year, saying at the time that it was completing network validation and testing for quality and performance.
