How to turn off iPhone 14 Pro Always-On display

One of the main features of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is the new Always-On display, which dims the Lock Screen while still showing information, like the time, widgets, and wallpaper.

With the Always-On display enabled, the iPhone will operate with a refresh rate as low as 1 Hz with a new low-power mode, which helps preserve battery life when the device is left idle, while still showing Lock Screen information.

The Always-On display is on by default on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, however, despite the low-power state the iPhone enters when the display dims, some users may prefer to disable the feature altogether, and thankfully Apple has made it possible via a new toggle in the Settings app.

How to turn off iPhone 14 Pro Always-On display

  • Open the Settings app and select Display & Brightness
  • Scroll down the list until you find the Always On toggle
  • Tap the switch to enable to display the Always-On display

With the Always-On display turned off, the iPhone screen will be completely black when the device is left idle.
