How to see iPhone battery percentage in iOS 16

Apple has brought back the battery percentage indicator in iOS 16, allowing iPhone users to see their battery percentage on the Lock Screen with just a glance.

Until now, Apple has only shown users a visual representation of the battery level rather than an exact percentage, with users having to swipe down to open Control Center to view the percentage due to the lack of space in the iPhone status bar because of the space taken up by the TrueDepth camera system.

With the setting enabled, the battery percentage will show inside the battery icon in the iPhone status bar, with the color of the battery percentage numbers changing dynamically based on the user’s wallpaper, and whether or not the user is charging their iPhone or has Low Power Mode enabled.

How to see iPhone battery percentage in iOS 16

  • Open the Settings app and tap the Battery option
  • Turn on the Battery Percentage toggle

It is worth noting that the iOS 16 battery percentage indicator is not available on the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 13 mini.
