Apple working on new ‘Apple Studio Display’ with 7K resolution, report suggests

As well as a new “Mac Studio,” described as a model between the Mac mini and Mac Pro, Apple is reportedly working on an “Apple Studio Display” with a 7K resolution, according to 9to5Mac’s Filipe Espósito who cites information from “sources familiar with the matter.”

Details about the supposed new display are thin, however, with a 7K resolution, the rumored new display would have a higher resolution than Apple’s current Pro Display XDR, blurring the lines on whether the new arrival will be a replacement for the high-end Pro Display XDR or a new addition to join Apple’s standalone display lineup.

According to 9to5Mac, the display is known internally by the codename J327. The same codename has previously been rumored to be linked with a display under development featuring a built-in A13 processor.

Bloomberg reported last year how Apple was supposedly working on an external display described as being a lower-priced alternative to the high-end Pro Display XDR, which Apple prices at $4,999.
