Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman is out with his weekly “Power On” newsletter, this week suggesting that Apple is planning to release a raft of new products before the year’s end, reporting that fall could see the iPhone maker unveil “the widest array of new hardware products in its history.”
According to Gurman, Apple’s rumored upcoming spring event will likely see the company focus on the upgraded iPhone SE with 5G, a new iPad Air, and potentially a Mac featuring the M1 Pro chip, which could suggest a new higher-end Mac mini or iMac is nearing launch.
For fall, Gurman says he expects everything from four new iPhones to upgraded AirPods Pro, a revamped MacBook Air and three new Apple Watch models.
I’m told that Apple is readying the widest array of new hardware products in its history this fall. That makes sense: My back-of-the-envelope list includes four new iPhones, a low-end MacBook Pro, an updated iMac, the new Mac Pro, a revamped MacBook Air, an AirPods Pro upgrade, three Apple Watches, a low-end iPad and iPad Pros.
Bloomberg reported last week that Apple might be forced to delay the announcement of its long-rumored new AR/VR headset due to development problems including overheating issues – a product which had been slated to be announced before the end of the year. Because of the production issues, Apple may now have to delay the AR/VR headset “until the end of 2022 or later, with the product hitting shelves by 2023,” the report claimed.
