Redesigned iPad mini to feature 8.3-inch display with no Home button, claims report

With rumors continuing to speculate on Apple’s future plans for the iPad mini, display analyst Ross Young has shared in a Tweet on Monday what he expects from the new device, claiming the upcoming 2021 iPad mini may feature a larger 8.3-inch display with no Home button and a narrower bezel design.

Echoing what many analysts and reporters have claimed about the new device in recent weeks, Young suggests Apple will give the new iPad mini an iPad Air-style revamp later this year, upping the screen size from 7.9-inches to 8.3-inches, with the removal of the Touch ID Home button hinting at the device gaining a new top button, which includes the Touch ID sensor integrated into the thin sleep/wake button.

Other reports have suggested that this year’s new iPad mini could be offered with 5G support, the same A15 chip rumored to be coming with the iPhone 13, a magnetic Smart Connector for accessories such as the Magic Keyboard, and a USB-C port, similar to the iPad Pro and the latest iPad Air.

Leaker Jon Prosser shared renders last month allegedly showing what to expect from Apple’s next iPad mini. It is believed that the upcoming device will be offered in three colors, including black, silver, and gold
