Apple VP Kevin Lynch reportedly set to work on Apple Car development

Kevin Lynch, Apple’s VP of Technology, is said to be joining the “Project Titan” team to work on the company’s long-rumored self-driving electric vehicle, according to a report on Friday by Business Insider.

The report claims that several sources within Apple have said that Lynch, who is known for his work leading the development of the Apple Watch, will now be “stepping back” from the health team and working on Apple’s new Tesla rival, though it isn’t clear in what capacity Lynch will be joining the team.

Business Insider‘s report says Evan Doll, Apple’s Director of Health Software Engineering, will take over some of Lynch’s former responsibilities within the health team.

Reports have ramped up over the past couple of months over “Project Titan,” Apple’s codename for the top-secret project. The vehicle is said to feature a “next level” battery to achieve increased range and superior levels of charge.

Over recent years, Apple has been hiring many executives and former engineers from rivals, including Tesla, to work on putting the Apple Car on the road, with it said that ex-Apple design chief Jony Ive was working on designs for Apple’s long-rumored self-driving automobile before leaving the company in 2019.
