Samsung reportedly begins making 120Hz ProMotion displays for iPhone 13 Pro

Apple supplier Samsung Display has reportedly started production of 120Hz ProMotion displays for this year’s new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, with LG Display making OLED screens for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, according to a new report from The Elec.

The Korean new source claims production is ahead of schedule, with separate reports claiming Apple is pushing forward with the production of the A15 chip and other components for this year’s new iPhone models to have them ready to be announced as soon as September, putting launches back on track following last year’s delay due to the coronavirus.

120Hz ProMotion displays have been widely rumored for the iPhone 13 Pro. The new display would double the refresh rate compared to the current iPhone 12, leading to a smoother appearance and more responsive touch gestures when playing games, scrolling, or watching video on the device.

ProMotion displays will likely be one of the main new features of the iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max. Reports point to the device also featuring a smaller notch, relocated ear speaker, and larger rear camera lenses.
