Apple’s rumored new redesigned MacBook Pro could launch as soon as summer, “followed by a revamped MacBook Air,” according to a report on Tuesday from Bloomberg.

Reporter Mark Gurman claims Apple is preparing to release several new Macs with faster processors, new designs, and improved connectivity to external devices as part of its two-year transition from using Intel processors in its Mac lineup to using custom M1-series silicon.

The MacBook Pros are expected to debut as soon as early this summer in 14-inch (code name J314) and 16-inch screen (J316) sizes., Bloomberg sources claimed. Rumors have long pointed to the updates featuring a full redesign, with an HDMI port and SD card slot. It has been rumored that the new machines could feature a classic MagSafe magnetic charger and possibly may not feature a Touch Bar, which was first introduced in 2016.

Apple is also said to be giving its MacBook Air a redesign with a new higher-end model, expected to be announced as early as the end of the year. The machine is said to feature a direct successor to the M1 processor found in the current-generation MBA, seeing the number of graphics cores increase from seven or eight to nine or 10.

For the new MacBook Pros, Bloomberg claim Apple is working on two different M-series chips, codenamed Jade C-Chop and Jade C-Die. The new silicon will have eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores but will be offered in either 16 or 32 graphics core variations.

Leaker Jon Prosser shared concepts imagining a new colorful line of MacBook Airs earlier this month, claiming his sources are telling him Apple is prototyping a machine with a white keyboard similar to the new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, off-white bezels, and more, like the new M1 iMac.
