Apple rolling out redesigned Apple Maps across Canada

Apple is today rolling out its enhanced Apple Maps experience in Canada, bringing improved road coverage and pedestrian data, more detailed land cover, Google Street View-style Look Around, and new cycling directions.

The redesigned and rebuilt Maps app entered public testing in October. The Canadian expansion is the largest Apple Maps update to date, covering over 3,850 square miles.

Justin O’Beirne shared examples between the old and new Maps online, which includes richer landscape details such as roads, parking lots, parks, buildings, airports, and more.

The expiation was confirmed by Apple within an update shared online, with Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services saying the new experience brings more accurate information and features like Look Around, curated Guides from trusted sources, and more.

With Apple Maps, we have created the best and most private maps app on the planet and we are excited to bring this experience to our users in Canada. We have rebuilt Apple Maps from the ground up to provide better navigation, richer detail, more accurate information for places, and incredible features like Look Around, curated Guides from trusted sources, and much more. Now it is easier than ever for users in Canada to explore and navigate the world.
