Apple rumored to launch iPad Pro with mini-LED display in first quarter of 2021

Panel manufacturer LG Display is expected to begin mass production of mini-LED displays for Apple at the end of the year, ahead of the launch of the first iPad Pro to adopt the new screen technology during the first quarter of 2021, according to Korean news outlet ETNews and Patently Apple.

Rumors have long pointed to Apple adopting mini-LED displays for future products, as the technology can offer the same benefits as OLED displays, including higher brightness, improved contrast ratio, and increased power efficiency.

Reports had previously suggested the new mini-LED iPad Pro would arrive before the end of 2020, but it is believed that COVID-19 and the impact it has had on component production has pushed the device’s release back until next year.

It’s unclear what other features the new iPad Pro would offer, but some speculate that the device may include 5G support, like the recently announced iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro as well as an A14X chip.
