Apple Maps is reminding international travellers of self-isolation guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States with a new notification when returning from foreign travel.
The notification was spotted by Kyle Seth Gray on Twitter, who said he received the reminder upon returning from an airport.
Apple Maps’ new notifications follow after the service started to show COVID-19 testing locations in the Maps app in May, with a new Mobility Trends reporting tool available to users online that shows the change in volume of people driving, walking or taking public transit with Apple Maps amid the spread of COVID-19.
As the CDC is a US-based public agency, the self-isolation reminder is likely only being sent to users who live in the United States, with it yet to be seen if Apple is sending notifications in other countries and regions with localized guidance.
