Supposed ‘iPhone 12’ molds claim to show rumored iPad Pro-style square design

Molds supposedly depicting this year’s iPhone 12 lineup have been shared on Twitter by @Jin_Store, offering a glimpse at the rumored new iPad Pro-style square design said to debut later this year on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

Matching exclusive iPhone concepts released by The Apple Post, the molds follow after a string of reports have long claimed all four 2020 iPhone models will feature a stainless steel frame, similar to the frame of the iPhone 4, and boast a new  squared housing.

The molds depict all but one highly rumored addition to this year’s new iPhone models: the iPad Pro’s LiDAR scanner.

It is said that the high-end 6.1-inch ‌‌iPhone 12‌‌ Pro, and 6.7-inch ‌‌iPhone 12‌‌ Pro Max will both gain Apple’s Light Detection and Ranging sensor for enhanced AR capabilities as the company continues its push in growing its augmented reality technology.

Molds such as this are typically constructed on leaks from within Apple’s supply chain and sold on to third-party case manufacturers so that they can produce accessories for the new hardware to have them ready for sale as Apple officially announces their new hardware.

Due to delays in production as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak across the world, which particularly hit countries which iPhone components hard, Apple isn’t expected to announce this year’s new iPhone models until October, a month later than usual.
