Broadcom, a manufacturer responsible for the production of iPhone components, is expecting Apple’s all-new iPhone 12 to launch in Q4 2020, adding further fuel to rumors that Apple may postpone its usual September iPhone reveal until October.

During an earnings call, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan discussed a “major product cycle delay” at a “large North American mobile phone” company, phrasing the executive has previously used to describe Apple.

According to Bloomberg who reported on Tan’s comments, Broadcom is now advising investors that it expects the annual boost in revenue brought by iPhone sales to happen one quarter later than usual this year.

We are in, Hock said, referring to Broadcom components in the ‌iPhone‌. The question is timing. This year, we do not expect to see this uptick in revenue until our fourth fiscal quarter, the CEO added. So accordingly, we expect, our wireless revenue in Q3 will be down sequentially.

Similarly to the iPhone X which was released to customers in October 2017, analysts predict Apple will delay the release of this year’s new iPhone models to allow manufacturers to increase volumes ahead of the busy holiday shopping season, which many suppliers are behind on orders due to factory closures caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Leaker Jon Prosser predicts Apple will push its usual September iPhone reveal into October too.
