Apple allegedly working on new iPad Air with under-the-screen Touch ID

Apple is allegedly developing an all-new iPad Air that features under-the-screen Touch ID, according to @L0vetodream on Twitter, who claims the new iPad could launch as soon as 2021 alongside an ARM-based 12-inch MacBook, and an Apple game controller.

The account, which has a fairly accurate track record on reporting Apple’s future products, has shared a full breakdown of the products expected to launch in 2020, including AirTags, Apple’s long-rumored physical item trackers, a new “HomePod Lite”, believed to be a more affordable HomePod to compete with the likes of Amazon Echo, an updated Apple TV, new AirPods, and more.

Within a string of tweets, @L0vetodream claims the new under-screen Touch ID iPad Air will feature a mini LED display, with a full-sized screen without Face ID.

We haven’t previously had any rumors of Apple working on under-screen Touch ID for the iPad, although it has been said the technology may be used on an upcoming iPhone model. We also haven’t had many reports of Apple working on a Playstation-style game controller however, with the introduction of Apple Arcade, the pay-monthly gaming subscription service, it could be possible Apple is experimenting with a new accessory for gaming on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Mac.

@L0vetodream claims more leaks are coming soon.
