Apple limiting in-store AirPods and Apple Watch try-ons as coronavirus precaution

Apple is discouraging employees from proactively offering customers in-store AirPods and Apple Watch try-ons over coronavirus fears, reports Business Insider.

While try-ons will still remain available for any customer who requests them, sources claim Apple has pulled back on inviting try-ons as one of several measures recently put in place, including regular cleans of demo devices and deep cleans of Apple Stores.

The news follows after Apple announced the closure of all 17 of its retail stores in Italy on Wednesday in an effort to limit the spread of the virus which has already been reported to have infected 12,000 citizens in the country.

Employees at most — but not all — of Apple’s corporate locations across the world, including California, Seattle, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom have been given the option to work from home this week, with retail staff allowed unlimited sick leave if they experience any coronavirus-like symptoms.
