Apple to make rare appearance at CES to showcase HomeKit

Apple will be present at the CES conference next week in a rare exhibition appearance for the company. They have said that they will be primarily showcasing their HomeKit capabilities at the show.

Amazon and Google are set to be releasing new updates to their internet equipped products and hardware, and will be showcasing their latest projects at the show alongside Apple.

“Apple’s HomeKit, a system for controlling devices in the home, will also be on display. Some companies will show off new gadgets for the home that work with Siri, Apple’s digital assistant…”

They are not expected to be releasing any new updates or hardware whilst showcasing their offerings at the show, but according to the report from Bloomberg, Apple executive Jane Horvath is to speak on a consumer privacy panel on January 7th.

This is not Apple’s first foray at the show however. Last year, although they did not make an official appearance, they put up a timely billboard around the corner from the show, showcasing Apples focus on privacy with its products, during the time where many of the big companies like Google and Facebook were receiving bad press for their data misconduct.
