Apple to double AirPods Pro production due to strong demand

Apple is doubling AirPods Pro production from one million to two million units per month, according to a new report from Nikkei Asian Review who claim supplier Luxshare Precision is being pushed by Apple to increase volumes thanks to strong demand.

The report follows closely after it was suggested that Apple is seeing “much higher” early demand for AirPods Pro than originally expected, with the AirPods category expected to see shipments reach 60 million units this year.

The report adds that Apple has also asked Luxshare and fellow Chinese manufacturer Goertek to boost production of the standard AirPods at their Vietnam-based factories, although it is unclear by how much.

AirPods Pro are now unavailable for pre-Christmas delivery, with the online Apple Store in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and Europe showing delivery estimates for the headphones starting between December 28 and December 30.
