iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro demand better than expected, according to analyst

Apple is seeing better than expected demand for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who notes the new colors introduced this year are proving to be most popular, with shipping estimates continuing to stretch further into October.

Based largely off the shipping estimates for the new hardware on Apple.com, Kuo, one of the most respected Apple analysts, has upped his estimates for new iPhone shipments in 2019 from 65-70 million to 70-75 million units.

Within his report, Kuo claims demand is “significantly stronger” for the new green and purple iPhone 11 compared to the other colors in the line, with the Midnight Green iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max again proving to be more popular than the other shades in the line, but he notes that the latter model is facing production issues and is currently constrained.

The shipping times of midnight green iPhone 11 Pro, green iPhone 11, and purple iPhone 11 are all two–three weeks or longer. The shipping times of other colors are roughly shorter than ten days. It should be noted that the glass casings of midnight green models are currently facing production issues; therefore, it makes the shipping time longer.

Kuo cites the iPhone Upgrade Program as a key factor to the apparent initial success of the 2019 iPhone line.
