Apple’s new music handoff feature for HomePod is an understated gem

How many times have you arrived home midway through listening to a song on your iPhone and have had to fumble around in the Music app to transfer the song across to your HomePod to continue listening?

With iOS 13, Apple is introducing handoff – a new feature that allows users to seamlessly transfer songs, podcasts and phone calls from an iPhone to a HomePod by simply holding the device close to the speaker.

As simple as it sounds, a user can hover their iPhone close to any HomePod around the house to transfer the song from their device to the Siri-enabled smart speaker.

Apple is expected to announce iOS 13’s official release date next week at its highly-anticipated ‘By innovation only’ event at Apple Park on Tuesday, September 10th, and shortly after the software is expected to launch, likely on Tuesday, September 17th 2019 allowing users to take advantage of music handoff, plus the many other features arriving with the release.
