Apple expands internal beta test of Apple Card to thousands of Apple Store employees

Apple has reportedly widened its internal beta test of Apple Card to thousands of Apple Store employees across the United States, reports Bloomberg.

The expansion comes shortly after Apple began allowing corporate employees to test Apple Card in May, with images online showing the titanium physical Apple Card and colorful accompanying packaging.

Bloomberg’s report claims Apple is offering employees APRs between 13.24 percent and 24.24 percent, the same as what will be offered to customers later in the year when Apple officially opens Apple Card to the public in summer.

Apple Store employees are able to sign up directly from their personal devices, with the Apple Pay portion of the card activated immediately and a card scheduled to be sent within two to three weeks, claims the report.

Apple Card was unveiled in March. The service will reward customers with financial cash-back rewards called Daily Cash. – Users making purchases will earn 2% Daily Cash, and for purchases made at an Apple Store or for an Apple service such as Apple Music the Daily Cash reward percentage will increase to 3%.

Apple employees have been asked not to discuss the card, but they are allowed to use it in public to make purchases.

Screenshots of the employee beta of the Apple Card show that test versions of the card are fully functional and include the ability to receive daily cash back, pay bills, see an order status for a physical card and receive technical support via text messaging. Users can also schedule payments, access their credit limit and manage connected bank accounts, among other tasks. Users will also have the ability to set the Apple Card as the default payment method for Apple purchases.

An official public release date for Apple Card hasn’t been shared, though Apple announced the service would be available in summer when it was unveiled in March.
