Apple Pay to further expand to 16 more countries in the coming months

Apple Pay was launched in 2014, alongside the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and the first ever look at the Apple Watch, and since then the service has gone strength to strength and has expanded  across the world.

Over the last few months, we have seen Apple Pay expanding across Europe, proving Tim Cook’s statement that we can expect Apple Pay in 40 regions by the end of this year. The payment platform has expanded to Poland, Norway, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, Austria, and Iceland over the last few months.

Mobile banking service, Monese has announced today they will be giving card holders Apple Pay support within Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. A huge expansion of people being able to use Apple Pay.

In addition to this, Apple is preparing for launch within the Netherlands, Hungary and Luxembourg.

This is a great sign to see Apple Pay quickly moving around the world and covering most of Europe. Hopefully the services that come from Apple Pay, such as Apple Pay Cash which are currently still US only, will follow suit and support other countries too in the near future!
