Apple releases official $39 clear case for iPhone XR

Apple has released its first official accessory for the iPhone XR – a flexible $39 clear case created with a blend of optically clear polycarbonate and flexible TPU materials.

Shortly before iPhone XR sales started it was uncovered that Apple had seemly revealed within a press release to its Canadian online Newsroom that a range of iPhone XR accessories would be launching for the new colorful handset, but surprisingly when official in-store pickups and pre-order deliveries started, the new Apple-designed accessories weren’t anywhere to be seen.

It’s unknown why Apple has waited so long to release the case, but nonetheless it’s here now. The case is what you would expect from a clear case, it’s clear and allows the colour of the iPhone to show through from all corners. It looks as if the iPhone XR case features an open bottom, similar to Apple’s range of iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max accessories, making it easy to perform  swipe gestures to navigate around the device.

Apple’s description of the cases describes it as scratch-resistant, thin and easy to grip.

Thin, light and easy to grip — this case lets you enjoy the look of iPhone XR while providing extra protection. It’s also crafted with a blend of optically clear polycarbonate and flexible TPU materials, so the case fits right over the buttons for easy use. On the surface, a scratch-resistant coating has been applied not only to the exterior, but also to the interior. Need to wirelessly charge? Just leave the case on your iPhone and set it on your Qi charger.
