Concepts imagine redesigned iPad Pro featuring Face ID

Spanish concept creator Álvaro Pabesio has released a fresh set of iPad Pro concepts envisioning what Apple may have up their sleeve for their highly anticipated slim-lined bezelled Face ID equipped iPad model scheduled to arrive later in the year.

Unlike the iPhone X, the new concepts imagine a narrow bezel at the top of the device, allowing for Apple’s TrueDepth Camera System, also known as the ‘notch’ to be hidden, allowing the iPad model to be turned in portrait or landscape without interference or distractions on the screen.

Álvaro’s new concepts follow reports yesterday by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, dubbed the “best Apple analyst on the planet” by many who claimed Apple is working to release an upgraded version of its iPad Pro later in the year alongside a more affordable 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, a larger screened Apple Watch and possibly a cheeper MacBook Air too.

iPad has always offered a uniquely simple yet immersive experience. And now, it’s so immersive that the device itself disappears. This is the biggest step forward on iPad in history.

Without the Home button, the concepts show an 11.9-inch display fitting in the same footprint as the current 10.5-inch iPad Pro. The device appears to feature a glass backing, similar to the sleek design of the iPhone X.

Alongside reports from analysts, a discovery within the original developer beta build of iOS 12 pointed to Face ID coming to the iPad.

Apple will most likely upgrade their iPad Pro line later this year, possibly alongside new iPhone hardware in September. Although so far no component or packaging leaks have surfaced, concepts such as this from Álvaro Pabesio are certainly a good representation to show what to expect when the devices launch to the public.
