iOS 12 beta hints at future iPad with Face ID
As we’ve seen in the past new iOS builds tend to reveal Apple’s future product plans. With the first iOS 12 beta we’re seeing possible future iPad plans.
iOS developer Guilherme Rambo revealed that code within the newly announced software appears to confirm something that has been rumored multiple times in the past; Face ID for iPad. Rambo tweeted the references as well as photos of the setup UI and settings menu.
It’s clear that it’s not compete as the settings descriptions still reference the iPhone. Some outlets are claiming that you may be able to unlock the iPad with your iPhone’s Face ID, similar to unlocking you Mac with Apple Watch. This does seem highly unlikely though considering the other UI changes such as relocating status bar icons and new iPhone X like gestures.
As announced yesterday at WWDC, iOS 12 will launch this Fall and will most likely be joined by a handful of new products at its launch.
The Face ID setup UI is finally working on iPad. Clearly not done yet as can be seen by the descriptions mentioning “iPhone”. But it’s a start 🙂 pic.twitter.com/PVQgfbne15
