Apple releases iOS 11.2.6 with fix for Telugu crashing bug

Apple has released iOS 11.2.5 to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, bringing a fix for the for Telugu crashing bug which caused the Messages app and system to crash on iPhone, iPad, and Mac when receiving a specific letter in the Indian language.

Users who received the letter regardless of the platform, either it be Messages, Safari, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger have seen their messaging app freeze and fail to function properly until the character had been removed by deleting the conversation with the person who sent it.

Apple promised a fix for the bug last week which has now been released. – Last month Apple squashed the “chaiOS” crashing bug which caused the Messages app to break and freeze on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices which received a malicious link.

How to download iOS 11.2.6:

Don’t panic if you can’t see iOS 11.2.6 showing on your compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, due to the high volumes of users trying to download the software, things might be a little slower than usual. If you’re near your computer, you can simply connect your device to iTunes and download via the iTunes desktop app however, if you’re going wire-free, simply follow the instructions below…

  1. Open Settings and click General.
  2. Tap “Software Update” and wait for iOS 11.2.6 to show.
  3. Once iOS 11.2.6 is shown as an available update, tap “Download and Install” and follow the on-screen instructions.
