Apple begins inviting UK website visitors to join a fundraising appeal for victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in London
Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in West London that police believe killed at least 79 people and destroyed 151 homes, Apple has started inviting UK website visitors to join a fundraising appeal, with the company sponsoring a charity single produced to raise money for survivors and families of those lost in the fire.
The charity single, which features Emili Sande, James Blunt, Robbie Williams, Craig David and more achieved the highest first day sales of any single released this decade; with Apple promoting the song exclusively in the U.K. on a new section of their homepage.
It’s not uncommon of Apple to use iTunes as a way to support popular charity causes. The company’s most favoured charities are typically the American Red Cross and (RED), though Apple does support others when appropriate.
Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in West London, the record industry came together to record a single for the victims of the disaster. Over 50 artists gave their time and support to make this happen. The song is ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. This website has been built to create a donation page which, together with the money raised by the record, will hopefully encourage people to donate whatever they can to help those who have been affected by this terrible event. All donations made here will be used by The London Community Foundation to help those in need.
