Apple has emptied its retail store in The Hague, removing iPhones, Macs and other products from display as businesses in the Dutch city prepare for possible unrest and looting.
A video shared on X by Marc Wurfbain shows the Apple Store’s familiar wooden tables standing almost completely bare, with no iPhones, iPads or Macs visible on the sales floor.
The move comes amid calls circulating on social media for protests in several Dutch cities, including The Hague, with businesses concerned that gatherings could develop into riots or looting. NOS reports that no protest had been formally registered with the municipality, and it remains unclear who is behind the online calls or how many people may participate.
Several other retailers in central The Hague have boarded up storefronts or announced plans to remain closed as a precaution. Local reports also say some businesses received threats that their stores would be looted.
Apple has taken similar precautions elsewhere during periods of unrest. The Apple Post reported last week that Apple temporarily closed seven stores across France ahead of fresh demonstrations, after Apple Sainte-Catherine in Bordeaux was looted during riots earlier in October.
