New MacBook Pro adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and support for up to four external displays

Apple’s new MacBook Pro adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 while expanding external display support to as many as four displays on models with M5 Max.

The connectivity upgrades were detailed in Apple’s MacBook Pro launch announcement, which also confirms three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack.

Apple says MacBook Pro with M5 Pro can support up to three external displays, while M5 Max models support up to four. The company also says the Apple-designed N1 wireless chip powers the move to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

The new MacBook Pro keeps the broad selection of physical ports expected on Apple’s pro notebook lineup while adding Touch, Dynamic Island and a new PROLED XDR tandem OLED display.

Storage can now be configured up to 16TB, while fast charging can take the battery to around 50 percent in 30 minutes. Apple also claims up to 24 hours of battery life.

The new MacBook Pro is available to pre-order now and begins arriving to customers on Friday, November 6.
