Apple says the new MacBook Pro delivers up to 24 hours of battery life, despite adding a brighter tandem OLED display, Touch support and more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
The battery figures were confirmed in Apple’s MacBook Pro announcement, which also reveals fast charging capable of taking the battery to 50 percent in around 30 minutes.
The new MacBook Pro is available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, with both models using Apple’s new PROLED XDR tandem OLED display. Apple has redesigned the chassis to make both machines thinner and lighter while retaining long battery life.
Apple says the 14-inch model now weighs 3 pounds, while the 16-inch model weighs 4 pounds. The more efficient OLED display stack contributes to the slimmer design and helps balance the additional power demands of the brighter display and Touch capabilities.
Fast charging is supported alongside MagSafe, while the machines also retain three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack.
The new MacBook Pro is available to pre-order now and begins arriving to customers on Friday, November 6.
